LOCATION: San Damiano, 4123 Monona Drive, Monona
Did you know that Climate Change is creating a series of domino effects for our Dane County lakes and cities?
Potent storms with greater volumes of rainwater are stressing current stormwater systems. Cities like Monona and Madison will find it necessary to prepare for more adequate storm water removal.
More stormwater means higher water levels in our lakes, flooding low-lying areas in Monona with greater frequency.
Rising air temperatures will increase lake temperatures resulting in algae blooms, reducing the sunlight reaching the native plants and aquatic life in the lakes, and altering ecosystems and water quality.
This is happening right in our backyard! Scott Laeser of Clean Wisconsin will speak about these local problems and what we, as residents, can do to help reduce the effects on the lakes.
PLEASE NOTE: this month Eco-Action Tuesdays will be held at San Damiano, 4123 Monona Drive, Monona. What better way to learn about water than at the lakeside! After Scott’s presentation, there will be a tour of Monona's newest park.
There will be free refreshments and a door prize. Adults and teens are welcome. Please register at the Monona Library website.
Eco-Action Tuesdays is sponsored by MGE.
