Join Monona Public Library and our guest storyteller Lisa Berry as we read through “Our Skin: A First Conversation About Race” by Megan Madison, Jessica Ralli, & Isabel Roxas. Lisa is Interim Director & Teacher at Woodland Montessori; a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Educator; and has been an activist and advocate for children in the Madison area for many years.

Lisa's special Juneteenth story time will open up conversations about race & racism with children and provide guidance and modeling to families, caregivers, and educators. Lisa will also share a story about Juneteenth (celebrated on June 19th) and talk about why this holiday is significant in the African American community and history of the United States. After storytime, there will be family activities that explore the concept of skin tone & identity. Families will also receive extension kits and resources to support antiracist conversations at home.

Drop-In Event: masks recommended.
