91% of plastic is not recycled! It ends up in landfills,
where it takes many years to decompose. and pollutes oceans, rivers and
streams.
The most pervasive plastic is the one-use bag, it directly damages
wildlife; birds and animals become entangled and drown or ingest plastic and
die of starvation when plastic blocks their intestines.
Cities and entire countries are now banning single use
plastic bags. Eventually this will happen world-wide but what can we do in the
meantime? Don’t use plastic wherever possible! One way is to substitute beeswax
wraps and bags for food storage.
At this workshop, we’ll make beeswax wraps and you can take them
home to use instead of plastic!
Adults and teens only may register for this event as the
process involves hot wax.
There will be free refreshments and a door prize! Seating is
limited so sign up now!
Eco-Action Tuesdays is sponsored by MGE and Willy St. Co-op.
