Event Details

The WING IT OPEN MIC HAS BEEN POSTPONED: Date to be announced. HOWEVER.....6pm
PLEASE NOTE: Youth Services Coordinator Karen Wendt will be at the library at 5:30PM for an informal, small gathering of folks who planned to attend WING IT to enjoy a Story Swap. Please arrive before the library closes at 6PM for this gathering. Bring your own snack and covered non-alcoholic beverage.

Storytellers (ages 14+) of all styles and levels of experience are welcome! Enjoy an evening of PG true stories, traditional tales, myths, fables, family stories. A featured storyteller or two will perform for up to 15 to 30 minutes and Story Swap tellers have 5 to 10 minutes each.  We have just one rule: no notes! No mic. Put your name in the hat to tell when you arrive.

WING IT will be rescheduled for a date in early 2020.
Flock to the Monona Library for an evening of unabashed wittiness, depth, and humor as our storytellers (amateur and professional) take flight in stories of "winging it". Tellers will bare their feathers with stories of frantically improvising, avian encounters, or nest into other interpretations of our theme. Prepare to quack up, get your feathers ruffled, or take a birdbath in your tears.

Click the event title to register. Teens and adults welcome.

Who are the tellers? Teens and adults are invited to share a true story on the evening's theme. Stories must be under 5 minutes, which is surprisingly tricky so practice, practice, practice!

How can I sign up to be a teller? Please enter a note in your registration and your name will be put in the hat for a chance to share your story! For storytelling tips and tricks please watch this 5-min or 12-minute video. And remember to keep it PG-13.

Can I come to just listen & not tell a story? Yes, of course! We won't have time for everyone to share a story but a great audience is part of the experience! Listen, laugh, applaud & weep. No interrupting. No heckling.
