Nature Explorers: Kids Naturally Story & Activity Hour

Today, we explore bugs, insects, creepy crawlies!

Bugs, bugs, bugs. Oh my! Insects are the most populous creatures on Planet Earth. From the beautiful butterfly to the industrious ant, wiggly worms to giant beetles, each has a purpose in the ecosystem. Join Wisconsin Master Naturalist, Deborah Proctor, to learn about the insect world through a fast paced game show and other buggy activities.

A free nature education program. Youth Services Coordinator, Karen Wendt along with Wisconsin Master Naturalist, Deborah Proctor and various guest presenters will entertain families with children's books about nature and wildlife at a special event that is part of a monthly series “Nature Explorers! Kids Naturally.”

Regarding the importance for children to learn about nature through books and hands on experiences, Master Naturalist Deborah Proctor states “Discovering nature through books and outdoor activities develops children who are stronger, happier, more creative and inquisitive, qualities that will lead to more successful adult lives."

Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for indoor/outdoor exploration.

Registration of one contact person is encouraged, so we can alert you if there are any changes to our plans. Walk-ins are welcome. Siblings are invited to attend.

Why? “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder… he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” – Rachel Carson, The Sense of Wonder
