"Let's Explore Furry Critters of Wisconsin!"

Ages 4 to 11. Younger and older siblings are welcome to tag along! Children will need to sit with their parents/chaperones.

Title: Furbearers of Wisconsin

Presenter: Shawn Rossler – Furbearer Specialist for the WDNR

Description: We will talk about the life history of Wisconsin’s more elusive critters, the furbearers. A study skin collection will be available to see and feel some of Wisconsin’s most interesting and seldom seen critters.

Regarding the importance for children to learn about nature through books and hands on experiences, Shawn Rossler states “The stories that occur in the natural landscapes of Wisconsin are more spectacular than any story watched on a screen”

A free nature education program. Youth Services Coordinator, Karen Wendt along with Wisconsin Master Naturalist, Deborah Proctor and various guest presenters will entertain families with children's books about nature and wildlife at a special event that is part of a monthly series “Nature Explorers! Kids Naturally.”

Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing for indoor/outdoor exploration.

Registration of one contact person is encouraged, so we can alert you if there are any changes to our plans. For ages 4 to 11. Siblings are invited to attend. Walk-ins are welcome.

Why? “If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder… he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” – Rachel Carson, The Sense of Wonder
