DESCRIPTION:Thursdays\, June 14\, 21\, 28 July 12\, 19. \;For children ages 8 to 13 years old who have an interest in learning to tell a story. \;Storytelling improves language skills\, boosts memory\, develops creative thinking and imagination\, enhances cultural understanding. \; \;  \;  \; Children in this 5 week workshop will receive step-by-step instructions on effective story selection as well as learning and telling predetermined stories. At the end of the workshop\, children who have learned and practiced a story will be invited to present it to families and friends at a Storytelling Concert on Thursday\, July 19th at 5PM! \;Registration is Required. Space is limited. \;Location: Monona Public LibraryWeek 1: Introductions\, meeting structure\, story genres. \;Week 2: Group support\, creating tellable stories. Purpose: To help students take familiar tales and make them their own by adding their own ideas. To encourage students to work together. Choose a story.Week 3: Choosing and practicing stories to tell.Week 4: Learning story sequence.
