A National Library Week Special Event! Identity theft continues to be the fastest growing crime in the United States, and it can come in many forms... Bestselling Wisconsin Crime Fiction Author Nick Petrie discusses his new book, Burning Bright, featuring Gulf War veteran Peter Ash who gets caught up in a suspenseful high-tech ride over cybersoftware, espionage, and information security. The Washington Post raved about this book, which is also an Entertainment Weekly “must list” pick.   Joining him will be Laura Fay-Wisconsin Dept of Consumer Protection, who will present her take on Burning Bright, as well as how you can avoid a high-tech ride of your own. Discover the different types of identity theft, and how to recognize and prevent it from happening in your own life. From Fraud Alerts to Security Freezes, learn timely information on how to safeguard your personal information and spot the red flags of a scam. Our local treasure, Mystery to Me Bookstore, will have copies of  Burning Bright  available for signing and sale,  And if this wasn't compelling enough, we are featuring a surprise "Identity Theft" vegan dessert from our local award-winning vegetarian restaurant, The Green Owl. You will never believe it's non-dairy!
